The train named 'Talgo' built on the basis of Spanish technology has become the fastest train in India. In the recent trials conducted by the Railway officials, the Talgo train covered a distance of 180 kms. m. A new record has been created for running at the speed of per hour. In the test conducted by RDSO [Research Design and Standards Design], which is a department of Railways itself, this Spanish made Talgo train has set new speed records. The Talgo train has 9 coaches, including a power car and a tail bogie, which connects the Talgo to an Indian locomotive, and is powered by a WDP 4 diesel engine that produces 4500 horsepower. Power is available, therefore no question arises regarding the speed of the Talgo. The special thing is that its diesel engine has been manufactured at the Varanasi Railway Plant.
