Chikungunya virus symptoms, Precautions and Treatment
Chikungunya is a type of virus which comes in the form of fever. It was first found in Tanzania in 1952. When this virus was found in Tanzania, then research was done on this virus and after that research it was found that it is Chikungunya virus. It was found for the first time in India in the year 2006, which was found in the Andaman Islands.
And after that it was found in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh respectively, but its average was nil. This is not a big disease at all, nor is it a cure. There are many treatments by which it can be cured easily. No disease is big, one must have the ability to fight it and positive thinking.
Even if it is fatal, it has proved fatal for only one out of thousands. It has also proved fatal for the same cases - for very young children or an elderly person whose body does not have the immunity to fight diseases. Normal people can recover completely from this disease but it takes time. It is an infectious disease, which spreads from one person to another.
Causes of Chikungunya
If we look at the general reason, it happens only due to mosquito bite, but these mosquitoes breed due to the dirt spread around us. Thousands of mosquitoes breed in filth, some of them are very poisonous. Chikungunya is caused by the bite of mosquitoes named Aedes Albopictus and Aedes Aegypti. This virus mainly occurs in animals and birds and spreads from there to the surrounding environment.
Symptoms of Chikungunya
Chikungunya presents with a different type of fever. But many symptoms are visible in the beginning itself which are as follows:
- In the initial phase, the pain in hands and legs is very severe, this pain mainly occurs in the joints, and along with this there is also very severe headache.
- In this, high fever gradually comes followed by chills and this fever increases or decreases like this for five-six days. That fever can range from one hundred two degrees to one hundred four degrees Fahrenheit.
- In this, there is swelling in the hands and feet and sometimes rashes and spots appear on the body.
- The effect of this disease lasts for at least ten to twelve days and after observing its cases, it has come to light that it hurts more in the first six days. And in the next four-five days the fever reduces and it ends.
- In this disease the fever is so high that the digestion process in the body also becomes weak. During this period, there is difficulty in eating and drinking anything and the body becomes very weak.
Chikungunya Precautions
There are remedies to cure every disease, which should be done in time. So that one does not have to endure much trouble and the disease does not recur. The prevention of chikungunya is as follows-
Maintain cleanliness
We have been learning since childhood that we should maintain cleanliness around us. If there is any dirty water in which mosquitoes are breeding, then remove it. Get the medicine sprayed in the surrounding drains and also pay special attention to cleanliness in the house. Wear clean and seasonal clothes and wash hands with sanitizer or soap before eating.
Taking care of food items
We should take care of our food and drink, bring changes in our food with the change of season. Whatever food item we are purchasing, it should be purchased from a good place and of good quality. Eat outside food as little as possible, and take special care during rainy days. Do not consume excessive frying and excessive chilli and spices.
Do not ignore the disease
Sometimes if you have common cold or fever, do not ignore it at all. Start home remedies immediately, if you are not able to get better, then consult your doctor and do not be negligent in getting tested.
Home Remedies of Chikungunya
No matter how big the disease is, home remedies for every disease have been prevalent for centuries, which are beneficial to a great extent, some of the remedies for this disease are as follows –
- To reduce fever, apply cold water and give basil ginger tea. This remedy is effective in any kind of fever.
- A decoction by the name of bitter absinthe is available in Ayurvedic shops, drink two drops of it with water.
- Take bath with the water of bitter Neem leaf, which eliminates every disease from its roots and wash its soft leaves and eat them.
- Put basil, cloves, black pepper and celery in water, boil it, make a decoction and drink it. Eat satvik home-made food and consume green vegetables and fresh fruits.
Do all these measures only after consulting the doctor.
In Chikungunya, pay special attention to some things like, it should not happen to any pregnant woman, any child or any elderly and any person already suffering from any disease. The infection of this disease spreads from one person to another. Although there is treatment for it, the person recovers very slowly, sometimes it takes up to five-six months for the joint pain to go away. It is best to get treatment immediately as soon as the disease is detected.
