Charcter Sketch of Jane Bennet “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen
The character of Jane plays an important role in the novel Pride
and Prejudice written Jane Austen. She is the eldest daughter of the Bennet.
Among all the five sisters Jane is the most beautiful and charming.
She is superior to Elizabeth the heroine of the novel, in beauty and physical
charm but she is not as talented as Elizabeth. As Elizabeth is a favourite of
Mr. Bennet , similarly Jane is the favourite of Mrs. Bennet.
Jane is a thing of beauty. In the first bull that took place an
hour. Jane was the Centre of attraction young and handsome boy like Bingley and
Darcy consider her to be the prettiest girl of long brown even at the
netherfield Bell, Jane impress all by her beauty , good , manners and graceful
appearance. She is to elegant and polished to give expression to ant base
thoughts or feelings. She is beautiful and full of grace and dignity
but she lacked the intelligence of Elizabeth.
She was also not a religious in Spirit as Elizabeth was Elizabeth
has refused the proposal of Collins and had made her parents position backward.
But Jain would not have been at Elizabeth's place.
Jane was not only beautiful and charming but was emotional too. She
had a very soft corner for Mr. Bingley a rich man, a large fortune from
Northern England. Their relationship started at the ball and the matter
advanced so much so that their engagement was considered almost a certainty.
But certain impediment came in the way and it was long after that
engagement could materialize. But Jane did not lose her heart at this critical
period of her life. She appeared like a graceful heroine believing on the
essential goodness of destiny. The was an optimist always helping for the best.
But in spite of everything she was a human being with all the hopes and fears
in mind. When she came to know of her intention of Miss Bingley that she
intended to Bingley to marry miss Darcy she lost her heart. The later she wrote
to Elizabeth from London show how much pained she wants to be losing the
prospect of marriage with Bingley.
Jane was a very affectionate girl specially her relationship with
Elizabeth was very cordial. When Elizabeth went out on a tour of Devonshire she
felt absolutely helpless without her. So she asked Elizabeth to come to long
hour immediately. In her absence she kept Elizabeth informed about the details
through her letters to her. In a way a Jane and Elizabeth formed a
complementary pairs of chancellors where each is immediately without the other.
Jane character has some inherent weakness in it. Temperamental she
was cool who always preferred the way of best resistance. As a matter of fact
she was in capable of fighting against the odds of life. Her happiness knew no bound
when at last Bingley proposed her. Sid dance with gay and joy and embarrassing
Elizabeth she ulterior that she is the happiest in the world she said: "It
is too much By for too much I do not deserve it oh! So why is not everybody as
happy!"
Like a responsible elder sister Jane was always anxious for
the well being of her younger sisters. She was much worried for her who has
loop with Wickham. Even when she was engaged to Bingley she was anxious her
Elizabeth. At last when Elizabeth uprooted Jane was so much over joyed that she
could not believe her ears. When Elizabeth assumed her of her intention Jane
again filled with anxiety.
If Elizabeth could really be happy with men like Darcy with
Elizabeth reply that they would be the happiest couple , Jane anxiety was over.
Among all the female character of Pride and Prejudice. Jane comes
second in importance after Elizabeth but she is certainty one of the few lively
and immortal character of Jane Austen.
