Dehradun is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas on the Doon Valley and between the two very famous rivers of India, the Ganges and the Yamuna River. River Ganga is in its east and Yamuna river is in its west. The city is famous for its Picturesque landscape. Dehradun is connected to Himalayan tourist places like Mussoorie, Auli and Hindu religious places like Haridwar, Rishikesh etc. That's why it is also called Chhota Char Dham. There are many philosophical places and temples.

1.Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple 

This temple is located in the city limits, which is about 5.5 km from the center of the city. There is a huge cave temple on the banks of the seasonal river dedicated to Lord Shiva. The name of this temple is derived from the Hindi word Tapak which means drop, where natural water drops keep falling from the ceiling over the Shivling in the cave. According to legend, Lord Shiva created a flow of milk for Ashwatthama, the son of Guru Dronacharya.

2.Tibetan Buddhist Temple 

This temple is a very famous temple here, this temple is also famous for the religious school of Tibetan religion. Buddha Mandir is the best philosophical place in Dehradun city. This temple is very attractive for many international tourists and Buddhist lovers.

3.Temple of Jwala Devi

This building serves as Maa Durga's temple. It is also known as "Banog Hill" this temple. Located 2104 metres above sea level and 9 kilometres west of Mussoorie lies Banog Hill. This temple is located above the valley of Benig, which resembles a crown. Yamuna Valley, Doon Valley, and a dense forest encircle it.

4.Laxman Siddha Temple 

This temple is situated at a distance of 12 km from Dehradun, it is known for its natural beauty. This temple is the cremation place of Swami Laxman Siddha and attracts a large number of tourists every year. It is also related to the time of Ramayana. Apart from this Siddha temple, there are 3 more Siddha temples in Dehradun namely “Kalu Siddha” which is near Baniawala, “Manak Siddha” which is near Shimla bypass road and “Madu Siddha” which is near Premnagar.

5.Santala Devi Temple 

Santala Devi Temple is the center of faith for the devotees which is just above the Noor River in Dehradun. This temple is situated in Santorgarh at a distance of 15 km from Dehradun in the midst of a green forest. Santala Devi and her brothers are the deities of this temple.

6.Swarg Niwas Temple

This temple is situated in Rishikesh. There are 13 stories in this temple. Here training is given for yoga. It is said that a great sage did penance here.

7.Sai Darbar Temple 

This temple is situated at a distance of 8 km from “Ghanta Ghar” towards Rajpur road. This temple is made of marble and colorful paintings have also been done in the walls inside this temple.

8.Daat Kali Temple

This temple is also one of the famous temples here, which is situated at a distance of 14 km from Dehradun in Saharanpur. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. Devotees of Goddess Kali visit this temple every year.

9.The Shiva Temple

This temple is also a well-known one that honours Lord Shiva. 12 kilometres separate this temple from Dehradun. People visit this location every year during Sawan and Shivratri.

10.Bhadraj Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Balabhadra, the brother of Lord Krishna. This temple is situated at a distance of 15 km from Dehradun.
